Swiss Potato Kugel

I thought kugel was a traditionally Jewish dish, but apparently there's also Swiss variations.

Swiss Potato Kugel

1 cup onion, finely chopped
2 TB butter
4 cups potatoes, shredded
2 cups swiss cheese, shredded
1/4 cup flour
1 ts salt
1/4 ts pepper
3 eggs
3/4 cup half-and-half cream
optional tomato slices and/or fresh thyme

-In a large skillet, saute onion.
-Remove from heat, add potatoes.
-Toss cheese with flour, s&p, and add to skillet.
-In a small bowl, mix eggs and cream. Stir in potato mixture.
-Bake in greased 9" dish at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
-Allow to cool for 5 min, cut into squares and serve.
