
Shoo-Fly Pie
Liquid:
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg yolk, beaten
1/2 TB baking soda dissolved in 3/4 cup boiling water
Crumbs:
3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 TB shortening (or butter)
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 unbaked pie crust
-Combine the dry ingredients, working in the shortening/butter.
-Put the pie crust into the pie plate.
-Top with alternating layers of crumbs and liquid. Top with crumbs.
-Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
-Reduce heat to 350 and bake for 20+ minutes until firm.
